Lots of News

Whoa Baby! This has been a whirlwind of a month! It has passed by so quickly. I can't believe we are just two days away from December.

Besides the normal life stuff, working and classes, we had a family reunion early this month out of town. It's always great to see everyone and get caught up on the happenings with their lives. We welcomed our 4th grand daughter to the world on November 10th, at 3:15am. Missed a few hours of sleep but it was well worth it! She's perfectly gorgeous with a full head of dark hair. I have been spending a lot of time in the studio preparing for craft fairs and classes. My three sisters and I did our traditional Black Friday shopping marathon. This is always a day we look forward to. Sometimes we don't get much shopping done, but we always laugh a lot and enjoy our day together. Thanksgiving Dinner was shared with family & friends. This is my favorite Holiday. No pressure, just lots of food, family & fun! And here we are, about ready to turn the calendar to a new month!

I thought I'd better get you caught up on the happenings with Stampin' Up!

New Stampin' Trimmer

Oh my goodness ~ I've been using my New Stampin' Trimmer, and I think I'm in Heaven! This is absolutely the best paper trimmer I have ever used! Yes, I am biased, but it was definitely worth the wait, and is now available for you to order! There are so many great features, that I just had to share them with you ~

Features of the All-New Stampin’ Trimmer
  • An extra-wide 6-1/4″ cutting base and an extended 14-1/2″ ruler
    • The extra-wide cutting base provides a large work area and is marked in 1/4″ (4 mm) increments, allowing for small measurements.
    • The right-side grid helps you measure and cut very thin strips.
    • The extended cutting arm has a stabilizing leg to provide a sturdy and steady cutting surface for longer cuts.
    • When fully extended, the extended cutting arm sits flush with the trimmer base, providing more accurate and consistent measurements across the entire surface.
    • The cutting base and track include a full ruler, incorporating measurements down to 1/16″ and grid lines that mark each quarter inch.
    • All rulers and measurements on the base are printed under a plastic cover so your measurements won’t wear off.
    • The base has nonskid feet, which keeps the Stampin’ Trimmer securely in place on your work area.
  • A full 12″ cutting and scoring track
    • The extra-long cutting track has space at the top and bottom so you don’t have to take the cutting and scoring blades out when you’re not using them.
    • The track gives you enough space to cut or score a full 12″ (30.5 cm) without having to remove or switch out handles.
    • The cutting track locks in place for secure storage or transport.
    • The track includes an insertion point for cutting and scoring blade handles so you can easily insert handles into the cutting track.
  • Specially designed handles and cutting track to ensure straight cuts
    • The hook on the scoring and cutting blade handles keeps the handles stable so the cuts are as straight as possible.
    • Handles come in two colors: dark for cutting, light for scoring.
    • The precision tip on the cutting blade allows you to pinpoint precisely where you’re cutting.
    • The point on the side of each handle shows you where the blade will cut, making it easy to see exactly where your cuts and scores will begin.
  • Storage compartment under base
    • The storage compartment holds scoring and cutting tools such as a Bone Folder, Simply Scored Stylus, extra scoring and cutting blades, and even business cards.
    • Separate compartments within the storage compartment keep your tools organized, and the clear cover makes it easy to see what you’ve stored.
  • Product details: item 126889; $29.95

12 Weeks of Christmas Week #3

Week #3's project is a fun little Double Treat Pouch. This pouch is great because you can put a treat in the front pouch, and a little card or a gift card in the back pouch. These can easily be tucked in a stocking, hung on the Christmas tree, added to a gift basket, or given as the gift themselves.

Are you planning a Holiday party? Just imagine these setting around the table as your name place holders. Do you have a Shower or Birthday party coming up? These would make the perfect party favor.

These are super easy to make! I'm warning you though, they are kind of addicting! Since they can be made with just one sheet of 12x12 Designer Series Paper, they are fairly inexpensive as well.

If you would like to learn how to make this cute Double Treat Pouch, email me and I'll send you the pdf with step-by-step instructions.

Don't forget to check out out latest promotions. A free gift and Single Stamps! Click on the pictures below for more details ~

12 Weeks of Christmas Week #2

Better late than never....I hope. Here is project #2 of my 12 Weeks of Christmas Series. One more card that showcases a fun technique and another good way to use up some of those scraps!

The technique is a bit hard to see here in the photo. To add some shimmer to my stamped design, the pine tree image from the Lovely as a Tree Stamp Set, I simply used my Sponge Dauber and sponged some Frost White Shimmer Paint directly to the stamp. Then, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to help me line the stamp up perfectly, before stamping over the previously stamped image. Clear as mud? Remember, if you would like the free tutorial for this project, just leave me a comment and I will email it to you. The tutorials for all 12 Weeks of Christmas Projects include the supplies used and step by step instructions.

Have you ever wished you could buy just one sentiment from a stamp set? Well, I'm happy to announce that Stampin' Up! is offering Individual Saying Stamps from three different stamp sets from now until January 2, 2013.

A Few Notes About This Offer ~
  • These stamps are available in Clear Mount Only
  • These stamps won't be sent to you in the typical clear case packaging. They will come in a cello bag. If you would like a clear case, they can be ordered. They come in packs of 4 for $5.95 #119105.
  • Clear Mount Blocks are sold separately. Recommended block sizes are shown on the flyer.
  • Orders can be placed online, or contact me. I'd be happy to assist you with any questions you have regarding this trial program.

12 Weeks of Christmas

Week #1 of my 12 Weeks of Christmas! Yep, believe it or not, there's only 12 weeks until Christmas. The time is really going to fly by I'm sure! To help you with your Holiday cards and treats, I've decided to share with you a project a week until Christmas.

Today's project is a great card to help use up some of those scraps that you may have laying around. Honestly, they don't even really have to be holiday paper. Almost anything will do! This is a pretty quick card, and could be a fun project to do with your kids or grand kids.

With each weekly project, I will also be sharing a link to a pdf with the supply list and instructions so if you see something you'd like to make, you can easily print it out, or save it for later. Here's your LINK for today.

Ribbon-Spools
Also, just a reminder that there are only a couple more days to get Free Ribbon with a $40 order. Visit my website for all those details.

Thanks for stopping by ~
Debbie D.

I'm having some technical difficulties. If you would like a copy of the pdf, leave me a comment with an email. I'll have to send this one to you. Sorry, and hopefully I'll get this figured out by next week. Thanks for your patience.

Joy

Oh my goodness, I've found another project that is going to be an addiction. I'm loving these 6x6 canvases! Here is one I created using the Candlelight Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper.

I started with a black canvas. The base of my project is the Flocked Window Sheet. I really like the way it looks layered over the black canvas. Since the adhesive would show through the window sheet, I only applied my Sticky Strip behind the patterned paper. The window sheet is loose at the top and the bottom, but by using Sticky Strip, and tying the 1/2" Old Olive Scallop Dotted Ribbon all the way around the canvas, I don't think it's going anywhere.

I will be teaching this 6x6 canvas class in December. You will have the choice of either the Hope canvas or the Joy canvas. Check my website for all of the details.

Hope

Yep, I'm still here! Just a lot going on. Family stuff and stamping stuff! I've been busy in the studio planning and preparing for special events and my regular classes.

I'm so excited for our Holiday Hoopla this Sunday. It's going to be a blast. My Team & I have planned a super fun day of stamping fun and inspiration. I've also been planning a Christmas Card Buffet and a Vendor Fair in October, my Bags & Tags class and a huge craft fair in November, and another craft fair in December. It's great to be busy!

Here is one of the projects that I created while mia. This is one on my favorites. I'm making these in a variety of designs to sell at the Hoosier Artisan Boutique craft fair I'll be attending in November.

This is a 6x6 canvas covered with First Edition Designer Series Paper. This paper was a little brighter than I wanted for this project, so I distressed it by sponging it with a variety of inks. I cut the heart with the Hearts Collection Framelits. We don't have a template to pierce the holes for this size heart, so I used my Paper Piercing Tool and punched the holes free-hand. Then I drew the faux-stitching with the Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker, and sponged the edges. I wanted the stamped design to be bold, so I stamped the swirl design from Elements of Style with Jet Black Stazon Ink. The letters were cut with the Big Shot and the new Typeset Alphabet. The brads are from the Antique Brad Collection, and are wrapped with Linen Thread. I love the way this turned out. I hope the people shopping the craft fair like it too!

Now, down to some business. During the month of September, when you place an order for $40, you can get FREE Ribbon! Click on the flyer to go to my website to see all the details ~

Paper Flowers

Paper Flowers_thumb

With the lack of rain we've had this summer, these paper flowers may be the only way I'm going to be able to enjoy a pretty vase on my kitchen table. My poor flower beds have really suffered from this drought. I just couldn't keep up with all the watering. We did finally get some rain, so our yard is no longer brown & crispy and I did notice some fresh green leaves popping up in the flower beds, so hopefully all is not lost.

Stampin' Up! is running an ad campaign in various magazines and online venues. Magazines include: Better Homes and Gardens, Family Fun and Parents, if you'd like to check it out.

This is one of the ads that you might find, and is my favorite, because the ad includes the instructions on how to make these beautiful Paper Flowers. Click HERE for the instructions.

Petite Purses

I just Love these Petite Purses! They are a bit addicting though, so I'm warning you now. This new Big Shot Die made it's debut earlier along with the Summer Smooches Suite. I had it forever before I actually opened it and started playing with it. Now, I can't stop! Here are just a couple of samples of what you can create. The possibilities are endless!

This die works great with either card stock or Designer Series Paper. I have used both. The DSP is cute enough itself, but I had to add a little scallop to dress it up. I'm working on a step-by-step picture tutorial showing how I add the scallop that I will post very soon. It's so simple, I'm sure you could probably figure it out on your own!

To add a little texture to the card stock purse, I used the new Delicate Designs Embossing Folder. Another new product that I have fallen in Love with! Pretty much, if you can use it with the Big Shot, I Love It!

These little purses are great for holding a couple of Hershey Nuggets, a small jewelry gift, money, or can you imagine them cut from Christmas paper hanging on your tree ~ adorable!

Stay tuned for my tutorial & thanks so much for stopping by ~

Uninvited Guest

I wasn't sure if this card was going to get finished or not. I had an uninvited guest yesterday while working on it that abruptly halted all work in the studio. As I sit at my table stamping away, a huge spider crawled right across the card I was working on! Yikes ~ I don't use the word "hate" often, but I hate spiders! I was bare foot, and felt totally defenseless. The only weapons I had were my stamping tools and I couldn't possibly use those to kill the thing. Get spider guts on my stamping stuff? Ewww ~ no way. Plus, that thing moved way too fast. I did spritz him once with my Stampin' Mist, and that seemed to slow him down a bit, but I still couldn't find anything to squish him with! I hurried and tried to finish my card, but he kept appearing out of no where ~ crawling on my paper rack, then on the table again, on the wall and then on the shelf with my stamps! I just couldn't stand it, I had to get out of there. I went back in later in the evening with shoes on, armed with bug spray, but he was no where to be seen. I sprayed around my table a bit with the hopes that I may just get him where ever he may be hiding.

I mustered up enough courage this morning to get back in the studio to finish my card. With my bug spray by my side, I got it done in record time!

I used the Reason to Smile stamp set. During the month of July, when you purchase $50 of any Stampin' Up! product, you can add this exclusive set to your order for just $5.00! I used the New In-Colors Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals and Summer Starfruit for the flowers. The sentiment is from Curly Cute.

Elegant Butterflies

Butterflies, butterflies, butterflies! I saw a card similar to this and thought it was the perfect card to incorporate the new Elegant Butterfly Punch. This new punch coordinates with the new stamp set, Papillon Potpourri. I've also paired it up with the butterflies from the stamp set Kindness Matters.

I used Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, both new In-Colors, and Rose Red for the color scheme. The patterned paper is from the Subtles Collection Designer Series Paper Pack. These packs are a great way to get patterned papers in all the colors of one collection. You get 40 sheets, 2 each of 2 double-sided designs in each of the 10 colors.

To add a bit of texture, I embossed a panel of Primrose Petals Card Stock using my Big Shot and the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. After stamping the Butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set and punching it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch, I adhered it to the card with a Stampin' Dimensional. For a finishing touch, I added a Basic Rhinestone to the butterfly.

If you would like to order the products to make this card, contact me or visit my website and place your order directly from my online store!

Polka Dot Blossom

I am in Love with the New Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper! It  is double sided, and comes in 6 vibrant colors. These are great to use to coordinate with several other paper sets.

For this card, I layered the Rich Razzleberry Polka Dots on a Whisper White Card Stock base. Then I used another white layer which I ran through my Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder. Before adhering the embossed layer, I punched out the flower shape with the Blossom Punch. This technique gives an optical illusion effect. Until you look closely, or touch it, it looks like the Polka Dot Flower is on top of the white embossed piece.

For the flower center, I layered two Rich Razzleberry Buttons, tied them together with White Bakers Twine and adhered them onto the card with mini glue dots. Pretty simple, but pretty cute I think.

It's good to be back in the swing of things!
Hope you have a great day & thanks for stopping by ~

Field Flowers

Oh my, I hope you haven't given up on me. I'm still here, just unable to spend much time in the studio these days. I am hoping that is all changing and I'll get back to a regular posting schedule.

So much going on. The New Annual Catalog was released on June 1. It is amazing ~ as usual! I know I say it every year, but Stampin' Up! has outdone themselves again. I for one am loving the new layout. Then there's the new products ~ Totally Awesome. No need to make a wish list, I want it all! The New In-Colors are scrumptious. Perfectly bright colors great for the summer and elegant enough for transforming into fall & the holidays. Speaking of scrumptious, wait until you try the newly designed ink pads. They are no longer felt, they are now Firm Foam. The Firm Foam releases more ink onto your rubber stamp, and stamps all your images beautifully. The new Designer Series Paper is gorgeous. There's something for everyone, and something for every occasion. And the new ribbons are fun too ~ Love the Stitched Satin and Grosgrain.

Today's project is one of the cards we did at my last class. I hosted a Card Buffet. I got the idea from a fellow demonstrator, and decided to try it with my customers. I designed several cards, and much like a food buffet, they got to "pick & choose" which cards they wanted to make. They each got to make 12 cards. It was a huge success, so I'm already planning my Christmas Card Buffet.

This card features the stamp set Field Flowers, and Designer Series Paper First Edition. This is a 2-step stamp set, which means you stamp with multiple colors & stamps to create one image. I stamped the stem first using Always Artichoke Classic Ink. For the flower I used Calypso Coral first, then stamped the outline with Cajun Craze. I love the look of stamping on printed paper, especially the words. I sponged the edges of the DSP with Always Artichoke to give it an aged look. The little butterfly was cut with my Big Shot and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.

If you don't have a new catalog yet, let me know, and I'll get one to you right away.

Retirement Special

Here is another favorite stamp set that we're bidding a fond farewell to ~ Upsy Daisy. This is a fun set, great for shadow or background stamping with the solid flower design. It also has 3 sentiments, Birthday, You're on My Mind, and Thank You. The butterfly on this card is from the set Charming, which is another favorite that is on the Retiring List. This is the set that I used to make the charms for my Simply Adorned Jewelry. It will also be missed.

We are down to the last 2 weeks of Retirement, and things are starting to sell out. From now through May 31st, I am offering a 20% discount off of REGULARLY PRICED Retirement Products. Good Bye to More Friends

Fox & Friends to be more specific. This is another set that is on the list of Retiring Stamp Sets. These little guys are so adorable! I've paired them up with the A to Z background stamp, another set we must bid a fond farewell to, to create this fun Birthday card.

Another item that is on the list of Retiring Accessories is the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch. Here is a card that features this great punch. This card also features some of the In-Colors that will no longer be available after May 31. That's right, Poppy Parade, used in the first card, Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush, used here, and Blushing Bride are all retiring. All card stock, ink pads, markers, etc. in these colors will no longer be available after May 31.

Hurry to my online store HERE where you can see everything that is retiring. Some of the accessories are even discounted up to 70% off!

Final Chance!

Today's project features the Petite Purse Bigz Die and the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper from the Summer Smooches Suite. Today is the last day you can order from this line until June 1, when the New 2012/2013 Catalog is released.

This little purse is just adorable and would be the perfect favor for a Bridal or Baby Shower, or a little girls Birthday Party. For the green one, I've embellished it with the Summer Smooches Fabric Brad. These were so popular, that they are no available. Contact me for information on substitution items. For the patterned paper purse, I used an In-Color Designer Printed Brad, and Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon.

This purse is so simple to assemble. When you cut it out with your Big Shot, it is only 2 pieces. The purse, and the handle. All you have to do is fold on the score lines, add adhesive to 2 tabs, attach your handle, embellish, and viola! you have an adorable little purse ready to fill with surprises.

Don't wait, be ready for all your summer parties. Order your Summer Smooches Suite today!

Today is also the last day to order from the Occasions Mini Catalog. Be sure to get everything from your Wish List before these items are no longer available!

Be sure to check out the lists of Retiring Stamp Sets and Accessories. Some Accessories are discounted up to 70% off. Don't miss out on great savings! Some of these items have already sold out. Remember, if you love the Simply Adorned Jewelry and the Decor Elements, both of these lines are retiring. Get them before they are gone for good.
