Well friends, here is another project that once you make one, you'll definitely want to make more! During our Living a Creative Life class at Convention, Carrie Cudney presented a super fun Halloween canvas that she created using mixed media. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to try it. Well, today I finally got to it. I Love it!
I started with a white 6x6 canvas purchased at my local craft store. I liked the primitive look of Carrie's project and wanted to keep that theme. I thought a Christmas tree would be an easy image to start with. I used the Season of Style Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalog, cut into strips to form my tree.
As I was laying out my design, I thought how cute would it be to put a ruffle at the bottom of the tree. After I tried it, I thought how cute would it be to put a ruffle between each layer! I used the Baked Brown Sugar 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim. This trim comes in all the great new In-Colors.
I made the trunk of the tree using the "bark" paper from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit, also found in the Holiday Catalog. I inked the edges of all the paper strips and added some faux stitching to keep with the primitive look.
I am totally addicted to these adorable canvases. I have all kinds of images running around in my head that I want to try. I can't wait to make more!
